Julia Brzezicki

Visiting Graduate Student

Julia earned her BSc degree majoring in biology and minoring in anthropology from SUNY Geneseo. While at Geneseo, she was involved in two undergraduate research projects where she studied the ecology and behavior of ant mimicking spiders along with studying the effects of traffic noise on green frog vocalization patterns.

Currently, Julia is working towards her MSc degree in biology with a thesis track at Western Kentucky University in Dr. Bruce Schulte’s lab. Her thesis, a part of SLEP, will focus on understanding the behavioral displays on a bold/shy continuum and social dynamics of adult elephants in Minneriya National Park. This data can be used to further understand human-elephant conflict and help predict which elephants will engage in activities such as crop raiding. After her Masters, she plans to earn her PhD to further her education and research with human-wildlife conflict.
