Darshika completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology (Hons) from University of Peradeniya. Currently, she is reading for her Master of Science in the field of Biodiversity, Ecotourism, and Environmental Management at the Post Graduate Institute of Science at the University of Peradeniya.

Darshika is interested in the fields of wildlife conservation and management, ecology, environmental management, ornithology, and ecotourism.
